The National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) is a centrally sponsored scheme by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It aims to support meritorious students from economically weaker sections by providing financial assistance to help them continue their education. The scheme targets students studying in Class 8 in government, local body, or government-aided schools. Selected students receive a scholarship of ₹12,000 per year (₹1,000 per month) from Class 9 to Class 12, encouraging them to reduce dropout rates and pursue higher secondary education.
